Chelsea Scramble to Secure Transfers
The 2024 transfer window is in full swing, and Chelsea are on the prowl for fresh legs before the new season starts in August this year.
The Blues have been hunting for big names, with reports claiming that the west London club is prioritising a new striker, left-back and centre-back.
Atletico Madrid forward Samu Omorodion has been linked with a €40-million move to Stamford Bridge, but there has been no official confirmation. What makes the move curious is that the 20-year-old Spaniard only scored eight goals across 34 appearances during the 2023/24 season.
Meanwhile, Chelsea are competing with Manchester United, Bayern Munich and Newcastle United to nab highly-prized winger Michael Olise from Crystal Palace. It appears that the 22-year-old wunderkind could join the Blues as they lead the race to activate his release clause of €70 million, but once again, no ink to paper has been confirmed yet.
In order to balance out the club books, Chelsea’s left-back Ian Maatsen is looking to be offloaded to Aston Villa for six years at an estimated €41 million, a high price as his release clause expired earlier this week.
New coach Enzo Maresca appears to be looking to make a good first impression, but only time will tell if his new squad will bear fruit.
